Gary Black joined Aegon Asset Management in June 2016 as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is responsible for all business aspects of Aegon USA Investment Management, LLC (AUIM) and Aegon USA Realty Advisors (AURA). Prior to Aegon, he served as the Global Co-Chief Investment Officer at Calamos Investments, which acquired Black Capital, where he was CEO and Chief Investment Officer. Prior to Black Capital, Gary was Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer at Janus Capital. Before joining Janus, Gary was Chief Investment Officer of Equities at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, and before that was Head of Alliance Bernstein’s Global Institutional business. Gary has 25 years of experience in the industry. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School and earned his BS in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Scott Cote joined Aegon in 1997. Scott was named Co-Head of Real Estate in 2016 and, with Christoph Gabler, jointly leads AURA’s day-to-day business activities. Previously, Scott was Head of AURA’s Commercial Mortgage Loan, Agriculture Loan, and Engineering lines of business. In this role, he oversaw the origination, management and policies of AURA’s commercial mortgage and agricultural lending operations in the US and was responsible for the relationship management activities of AURA’s commercial mortgage and agricultural lender clients.Prior to joining AURA, Scott worked as an analyst for a NYC-based commercial real estate brokerage firm and managed the real estate platform of a Midwest life insurance company. Scott received his BA and his MBA from Baylor University.
Christoph Gabler joined AURA in 2000. Christoph was named Co-Head of Real Estate in 2016 and, with Scott Coté, jointly leads AURA’s day-to-day business activities. Previously, Christoph was Head of Community Investments at AURA, responsible for the oversight of AURA’s tax credit investing business line. Earlier in his tenure at Aegon, he served as head of the Tax Credit Asset Management, Production and Distribution groups. Prior to joining AURA, he worked for several banks and institutions, in various aspects of the tax credit industry. Christoph received his BA in economics from Tufts University and his MBA from Boston College.
David Feltman, CCIM joined AURA in 1989. David is an Executive Vice President of AURA. In his role as Executive Vice President, David's primary responsibilities include acquisition, asset management and disposition of equity real estate. Functional areas under his direction include Special Servicing, Real Estate Acquisitions, Commercial Real Estate Asset Management, and Special Servicing. He has over 30 years of experience in the real estate industry across a wide variety of disciplines including development, syndication, leasing, investment brokerage, multifamily management and distressed debt workouts. Prior to joining AURA, he was Director of Development for a Midwest real estate firm for ten years. David is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Turnaround Management Association and the American Real Estate Society. He attended George Washington University.
Lindsay Schumacher, CRE, FRICS joined Aegon in 1983. Lindsay is a Senior Vice President for multiple functional areas within AURA. In his role as Senior Vice President, Lindsay is primarily responsible for real estate and energy investments in the Private Equity Group. He also oversees various key functions including Valuation/Applied Research, Property Taxation, CMBS Market Surveillance, and New Product Development/Strategy for AURA. Lindsay is a member of the Real Estate Investment Committee. Prior to his current role, Lindsay was responsible for the oversight of the AURA mortgage loan servicing group. Lindsay received his BA from Macalester College.
